Snake in the Garden, Prospect Park

These are the cherries just inside the entrance to Prospect Park at Grand Army Plaza. There is a snake in this garden.

This is a snake. It’s not the snake.

Calvert Vaux designed the snake urns which flank the Grand Army Plaza entrances.

The cherries were peaking today. All these petals will be on the ground in a few days.

The snake is visible at the far right of the photo at the top. Here’s a close-up. This guy was tearing branches off the cherry trees.

Why would someone do this? Oh, so he could give them to his lady friend.

  1. This guy should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law . . . for wearing that sweater.

Snakes, maybe a Garden of Eden reference?

  2. Ooh, buddy – could you pull up your underwear just up a little bit more? You’re showing a little midriff. Thanks.

I’d bet money he complained about tagged signs they came across that day.

  3. Sebago’s snake is cuter! 😀

Yet another season that I’m not going to make it to the BBG because I’m scrambling too hard to do other stuff. Sigh. Well, at least the one at the Liz Christy (Christie) Garden was doing the whole beautiful pink snow thing yesterday.

  4. It’s always been my experience that real reptiles are more attractive than their human counterparts. At the least, they have no pretenses of not being reptiles.

At least there’s plenty of pink and white and yellow and red and stuff to be enjoyed in our neighborhoods.

  5. I was there at this exact moment when that dude was tearing off branches. My husband walked over to try and stop him and the jerk responded, “Why not?!”
