We went to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden today. I wanted to catch the fall foliage (there was lots), see if they had the book Defiant Gardens (they did!), and, with Takeo Shiota in mind, visit the Japanese Garden.
Bonsai of Acer buergerianum in the root over rock style by Stanley Chinn in the Bonsai Museum.
Here’s a sampling of a few of the photos I took today. Each photo in this post links to its Flickr page with a description. The title of this post is linked to the Flickr set containing these photos. There are many more photos from today’s visit there.
Cool!
ya know, Scot Medbury, the Pres and CEO of the BBG used to be the director of the San Francisco Bot Garden. But they (the City) kinda f’cked him over. He’s way better off at the BBG.
The guy they (finally) hired to replace Medbury apparently comes with a lot of baggage.
That’s the goss’.
But, ayhow, please, delete this comment if it gets lots of google traffic or something. i like the sfbg and don’t want to become persona non grata there.
🙂
woot, woot!
Well blow me down with a feather! (UK expression of surprise) I was visiting a blog and clicked “Next Blog” and here you are – visiting a Japanese Garden, my passion! Ive only ever done that once before.
I am off to Kyoto on holiday in a couple of days to see the real thing – though I hear your one is excellent.
Going to have a read through the rest of your posts now.
Cheers!
Oh I must just come back to say what wonderful photos you have. Delightful. Thank you.
